the muslems think it was written by God
I have a number of muslem friends and really do care about them
I just want to know who REALLY wrote the Koran
and no I am not trying to start a Jihad |

non-expert here to report:
According to Islam, the Quran was revealed in parts to Mohammad via the angel Jabreel (Gabriel). Mohammad then dictated to one of his pals who transcribed it, I forget which pal(s).
Aside: there are many, many muslims that can recite the entire Quran from memory. In the MEast they have competitions amongst children for this. Alternately, in the "muslim" world, I'd guesstimate that a majority of muslims are illiterate in classical Arabic and thereby unable to read the Quran for themselves. |
